Too busy

Talking with a friend of mine today, I heard once again the same story of a business owner working sooo much IN the business that they are not able to work ON the business.

Results:
 – Tremendous stress (affecting spouse & children)
 – Frustrated employees (leading to poor retention)
 – Little or no growth
 – A business that cannot be sold (or only for very little money)

When help is offered the response is per the comic: “No thanks, I’m too busy for that…”

And that is the tragic part of the story: these Owners, or other key players like the CEO, President or GM can’t envision that an outside Business Coach can initiate tremendous Change, often remarkably quickly:
 – clarity in Vision
 – clarity in Organizational Structure
 – effective Management Practices
 – streamlined Work Processes

I often joke to my clients that my job is to “get them on to the golf course”. The most rewarding moment is when they eventually do go away for an extended vacation and find no problems upon their return: mission accomplished!
